Kvikbolig is a Danish website that provides information and services related to the housing market. I was hired as a UI Designer to redesign their old website, which was the first website design for Kvikbolig. The goal was to improve the content structure and provide a better and fresher design so that users can easily find and give information on the property they want to rent.
The Problem
The old website design didn't prepare the content and the design that well. As the website was getting bigger, it needed a better content structure and a fresh design to make it easy for users to navigate the website and find the information they need. The user experience was not intuitive, which led to a decrease in engagement and user satisfaction. The website lacked a design system and reusable components, leading to inconsistencies in the design and making it harder to maintain and update.
Solution
To address the problems with the old website, I started by creating a design system that would ensure consistency and coherence across all the pages. This involved developing a color palette, typography, and UI elements that would be used throughout the website. This design system made it easy to create a consistent design across all pages and also made it easier to maintain and update the website. Next, I worked on creating reusable components that would be used throughout the website. This included buttons, forms, and cards, which made it easier to create new pages and ensure consistency in the design.
Finally, I redesigned every page on the website to improve the content structure and provide a better user experience. This involved creating a more intuitive navigation system and making it easier for users to find the information they need. I also improved the design by using the design system and reusable components, which resulted in a cleaner and more modern look.
Results
Unfortunately, after the project was completed, I wasn't able to follow up with Kvikbolig to collect data or feedback from users on the impact of the redesign. However, based on my observations during the redesign process, I believe the new design has the potential to improve user engagement and satisfaction. The use of a design system and reusable components should make it easier to maintain and update the website, resulting in fewer inconsistencies in the design.
Redesigning Kvikbolig's website was a challenging but rewarding experience. By creating a design system, and reusable components, and redesigning every page, I was able to improve the content structure and provide a better user experience. Although I wasn't able to follow up with the project to collect data or feedback, I believe the redesign has the potential to make a positive impact on user engagement and satisfaction.
